Departing from Invergordon, following the arrival of your cruise ship, this tour will take you to the shores of the famous Loch Ness and the opportunity to visit the Highland Capital, the City of Inverness.
We will travel adjacent to the Cromarty Firth, through the quaint village of Alness, making our way to the lovely village of Beauly. Here you will get an opportunity to visit some of the traditional village shops and the remains of the Beauly Priory founded in Scotland about 1230 for monks of the Valliscaulian order.
From here we will travel across the rural country road to the village of Drumnadrochit where there will be an opportunity to visit the Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition. Thereafter we will make our way to the famous Urquhart Castle where you explore this once impressive structure that guarded the Great Glen.
Continuing our tour we will follow the shores of the Great Loch Ness passing through the City of Inverness where we will soon arrive at the historic Culloden Battlefield, a significant period in Scottish history, where the Jacobite Revolution came to a dramatic end. Many of those that died in this horrific battle did so at the hands of other Clans who fought with the Government soldiers. You will get an opportunity to visit the battlefield and experience its poignancy. There will also be an opportunity to visit the Culloden Exhibition Centre which features artefacts from both sides of the battle and interactive displays that reveal the background to the conflict.
We will then continue our journey a short distance to the Clava Cairns. The Clava Cairn is a type of Bronze Age circular chamber tomb cairn that was built about 4,000 years ago. It also features in the Outlander series.
Thereafter we will return to Inverness where you will get some time to explore the sights and enjoy some retail therapy, the local hospitality or some of the fine food and drinks available.
The tour will then start to make its way back towards the port of Invergordon where we complete our day.
