Departing the City of Inverness at a specified time and location this tour will take you on a journey along the Great Loch Ness, explore the west coast of the highlands before venturing onto the Isle of Skye
Travelling along the banks of Loch Ness we will firstly come to the village of Drumnadrochit where there will be an opportunity to visit the Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition. Thereafter we will make our way to the famous Urquhart Castle where you view this once impressive structure that guarded the Great Glen, from above.
We will then continue our journey to the little village of Invermoriston where you can view the Old Bridge, Invermoriston Falls and Summer House.
Thereafter we will continue our tour, passing Cluaine Loch, which is now a large reservoir. In low water levels you may see the remains of some of the old dwellings that stood on its original shore, prior to the dam construction. As we approach Kintail we will see the majestic mountains that form the 5 Sisters of Kintail. You may also see wild goats roaming the road in this area.
Shortly after we will arrive at Eilean Donan which is a small tidal island where three sea lochs meet, Loch Duich, Loch Long and Loch Alsh. The picturesque Eilean Donan Castle that frequently appears in photographs, film and television dominates the island. Since the castle’s restoration in the early 20th century, a footbridge has connected the island to the mainland. We will spend some time here for a visit.
Continuing onto Portree, passing the Black Cullins mountain range, we will stop for a short time to enjoy the capital of Skye.
Thereafter we will follow the east coastal route visiting the stunning locations of Kilt Rock, the Quiraing, and the Old Man of Storr.
Thereafter we will make our way towards Achnasheen on the return journey travelling through some wild and rugged countryside.
On passing the village of Garve we will stop at the Rogie Falls Rogie Falls, Contin, where you can walk over a footbridge viewing water cascading over the rocks as you admire the stunning location and its tranquillity.
The tour will then start to make its way back towards Inverness where we complete our day.
